Daphne
-she was a huntress maiden, daughter of the river god.
-Refused to be wooed by men, wished to be a virgin her entire life.
-Apollo saw her, wearing a short dress, and ripped clothing, but was enchanted by her.
-Apollo fell in love with her and chased her.
-He was close to catching her so she asked her father for help, he turned her into Laural tree.
-Because of this Apollo wears a crown of Laural leaves.
-Daphne is an amazing athlete.

What does the Iliad show us about fate?
What is your opinion of Zeus based on the Iliad.
FATE:
-When prophesies are made they generally come true.
-The gods know everyone's fate
-Even some of the mortals know their fate like Achiles and hector knows troy must fall
-You can't escape it unless intervention by gods
-Zeus subject to the will of the fates (moira)
Zeus:
-Inconsistent
-Indecisive
-Selfish
-Enjoys his power
-Stubborn
-Can easily be persuaded
-Picked his favorites and doesn't care if anyone else dies
-Arrogant
-Shallow, lustful
